Reversal
Reversal

Technical Definition-Acting on the first possible frame out of hitstun, blockstun, or on wakeup. Special moves are often buffered so they are executed with reversal timing. Most games will indicate if a special move is done with reversal timing with an on screen notification. Can also be used to describe a move that a character possesses, such as a DP, that has invincibility and can be used to escape pressure.

In Other Words-A reversal or sweep in combat sports occurs when a grappler who was underneath his opponent on the ground is able to maneuver so that he gains a top position over his opponent. The same can be applied to fighting games, as a character switches from defense to offense when performing a reversal.
