Technical Definition-The game mechanic that allows for the release of a button to count as a separate input in place of pressing the button again. Called "Release Check" in NRS games and can be turned off.

With negative edge off, Cassie must press 2 twice to perform b+1(2) xx db(2). With it on, 2 can be released instead to register the second input.
