Limb Notation
Limb Notation

Technical Definition-The style of notation where each of the four buttons correlates to a specific limb on a character. 1 and 2 are usually the two punch buttons while 3 and 4 are the two kick buttons. Motions are represented by the first letters of only the cardinal directions in their notations. For example a down, down-forward, forward motion would be notated as just d,f. Used in games where each limb is mapped to a button such as the Tekken Series and the modern Mortal Kombat games.
