Empty Jump
Empty Jump

Technical Definition-A jump (or other type of aerial movement) where the attacker does not perform an aerial attack, instead attempting a mix up (usually a low or throw) when they land. Because aerial attacks are generally overheads, the threat of them forces a defender to block high, opening up other options such as the "empty jump low" or the "empty jump throw". In the Smash Bros. community, the word "tomahawk" is used instead of empty jump such as the phrase "tomahawk grab" referring to an empty jump grab.
