Technical Definition-In team based games, the character on the team that is usually last alive. Anchors will usually have an excellent assist and be able to make use of the meter the rest of the team has built. They must function well without assists since they are likely to be fighting solo and should be able to make use of in-game comeback mechanics to create comebacks.

In Other Words-Similar to their namesake, the anchor leg of a relay race. The anchor leg is usually the fastest or most experienced runner on the team and like an anchor character, their role is to either hold a lead created by their team or erase a deficit.
